The Radnor Hunt dates back to the 1800s, and is the oldest active fox hunt in the country, making it a Main Line staple for years.
For those of you who are not familiar, Radnor Hunt is nestled in Malvern, and among other events, hosts a series of steeplechases each spring. The race will feature racers (and their beautiful horses) who stem from regions of Florida to New York. Racers will be steering their horses around a one mile course about three times, with thousands of spectators in the audience cheering them on.
Proceeds of the event go to the Brandywine Conservancy, an organization that works hard to protect the beautiful Malvern countryside. Break out your pastels and sun hats folks, this is sure to be an event that cannot be missed.
This year, Perfect Setting Catering will man three tents along the finish line, serving up delicious favorites, and passing hors d’oeuvres.

The Villanova Men’s Basketball Banquet
From Setup to Show-time
Our eighth year catering the Villanova Wildcats’ honors banquet was nothing short of perfect. The setup spanned two days and kept the Perfect Setting Catering crew light on their feet. Upwards of 715 guests arrive en masse at the Villanova Pavilion on the University’s campus with a hunger to match their successful career.
The Setup Began Wednesday, April 22nd
As you can see, a small team went the day before to help setup the 76 tables and 700+ chairs. We were quite grateful for the help employed by the Villanova athletics department who lent a few hands to move this large number of tables and chairs. The gross majority of glassware, mugs, saucers, silverware, linens and napkins were distributed by table and readied for the crew coming the day of the event.

- 15 tables in the back for prep
- 5 Ovens

- 3 Trucks
- And 45+ staff on hand to expedite the whole affair
The banquet began with a private cocktail reception followed by our guests being asked to be seated. The kitchen was in full swing pre-plating the Spinach Salad with Fresh Strawberries topped Red Onion and Glazed Walnuts, and the Carrot Cake with Rich Cream Cheese Icing for dessert.
During the awards ceremony the guest were quietly served without interruption while eagerly awaiting Jay Wright’s speech. The main course, A Boneless Breast of Chicken with Homemade Gravy, Green Beans Tied with a Carrot Ribbon, and Creamy Scallop Potatoes, was served hot from three separate prep lines placed around the pavilion. With a crowd this large we had to have 45 staff members on hand to ensure efficient delivery of the entree to the crowd of 715.
The banquet lasted only three hours, but the setup and labor involved spanned two days and nearly 8 hours. The ceremony went without a hitch, no dropped plates, no speaker or video malfunctions, just a clean, successful night for a cherished Main Line basketball community.

What trends will 2015 bring to catering?
Perfect Setting Catering is gearing up for the 2015 wedding season, and with that comes keeping an eye on upcoming trends. As with most trends, they fade out and find their way back, often with new twists… we are certainly seeing a bit of the 2015 trends cropping up now here on the Main Line, especially in menus. Take a peek at some of the food trends that we think we will be seeing more of in 2015.
1. The Late Night Snack
The popcorn cart at the end of the night is fizzling out, and now couples are putting a personal twist on the snacks that you start craving on the dance floor. Milk & cookies, ice cream cones… the night is ending on a sweet note, and sometimes greasy… pizza anyone? Summary: 2015 food trends will have a personal taste..er…touch.
2. Family Style
Here at Perfect Setting Catering, we have always offered options, such as seated, buffet, or station, but now we are starting to welcome family-style dining to the party. With the popular rustic themes that we see at venues throughout the Philadelphia region, couples want their dining style to reflect the same casual vibe, and this low-key alternative offers just that. Summary: 2015 food trends will be in larger portions sizes to share across the table.
3. The Cakes
That’s right, plural. Gone are the days of one cake to cut, today we welcome the cake bar (we’re not complaining, the more the merrier). Summary: 2015 food trends will highlight, and probably include more, dessert… hooray!

Our Open House Tasting was met with a triumphant turnout!
We love booking at Appleford Estate, it is one of our favorite venues in Villanova. On March 7th Perfect Setting Catering hosted yet another tasting with a great line up of vendors. Upwards of forty guests arrived to try our food and service and converse with our group of vendors.

Our Brokers Party was buzzing in the limelight
We recently catered a ‘night club’ styled brokers party in downtown Philadelphia along with Ilonka Floral Decorator in this pseudo-industrial space. The lighting, props, and food displays cast an iridescent hue all across the refitted former office space along Philadelphia’s Market Street that really made the stark metal and sheet rock pop with a night club attitude. “We got married recently at the Merion Tribute House outside of Philly. Jerry Diehl, Erin and the rest of Perfect Setting Team made our wedding so smooth and enjoyable, not to mention delicious! When I booked the venue, they recommended Perfect Setting out of the 10 caterers on the pre-specified weekend caterer list–I am so glad we did.
We knew we made the right choice when we met Jerry at our tasting and tried all of the food. Everything was so good and had a beautiful presentation. We also had a blast getting to know Jerry and sharing our vision for our day.

Dinner came out quickly and efficiently and we were through dinner and on the dance floor back on schedule!
One of the greatest things about Perfect Setting was Erin who specially catered to me, my fiancé and our families throughout the whole night. We were greeted with cocktails and appetizers as we finished our bride and groom shots with the photographer and we were never without a drink the rest of the night. We actually got to enjoy our wedding meals and not waste time in line at the bar! It felt like she had known us for a long time and had a personal interest in making sure we enjoyed our special day.
